Most everyone has federal unclaimed funds or property due and owing him/her and doesn’t know it. You might not see why this is but this can come from many various life circumstances such as US savings bonds that no one has claimed yet. This is federal unclaimed money just sitting there doing nothing else but waiting for its owner to come by and pick it up.
When you stop and think that it may take 30 plus years for some of these US savings bonds to come to fruition, and a lot of things can happen during that time to people, such as death, severe accidents or mental incapacity. They become totally forgotten about or just abandoned money.
Federal tax refunds are notorious for unclaimed federal money which occurs each and every year by the billions too. refund checks do not find their rightful address’s and they’re returned. People may also pass away too and mail gets lost or not given to the proper person such as their guardian and/or survivor.
Bank accounts sometimes then become federal unclaimed funds too from death that just sit there for years with no activity. banks then send it to the federal unclaimed departments where it sits- maybe forever unless a relative claims it. But this must be done properly or you will not have access to the funds.
There is also federal unclaimed property too. One might wonder how this could be again, but billions of dollars of unclaimed property is sitting there right now – so it does happen. maybe it’s time for you to check and see if you or someone you know has any federal unclaimed money.
